WHY IT MATTERS

Justice matters because the Constitution of the United States promises, in its Preamble, to “establish justice."  Justice matters because it is the hallmark of a nation ruled by laws and not tyrants.  Justice matters because when it is denied, we rip the democratic fabric that holds our society together.  Justice matters because, “Justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society” --so wrote James Madison in the Federalist, Number 51.  We have the urgent responsibility to make justice matter in each of our personal and professional lives.  It matters now, and it matters in Arkansas.
